Editorial Guidelines
These guidelines govern every piece of content published on Beat the Spin. They cover how we research, write, verify, and update our reviews — and what our relationship with affiliate programs means (and does not mean) for what we publish.
How We Select What to Cover
We cover sweepstakes casinos that are legally operated in the United States and offer a publicly accessible free daily bonus. Sites must maintain a functioning bonus claim mechanism — if a bonus disappears or becomes purchase-only, we remove or flag the listing accordingly.
We do not accept payment for inclusion in our catalog. A site can ask to be reviewed, but listing decisions are made by our editorial team based on whether the site meets our coverage criteria.
Review Process
Every casino review on this site follows the same process:
- Account creation: A team member creates a real account using standard signup flow.
- Bonus verification: We manually claim the daily bonus and document the exact amount, time windows, and any conditions attached.
- Terms review: We read the operator's full terms of service and help center pages to verify playthrough requirements, minimum redemption thresholds, and state restrictions.
- Community cross-check: We review community reports on Reddit, Discord, and player forums for patterns that differ from operator-stated terms.
- Score calculation: We apply our published scoring methodology and assign a final score.
No review is published without all five steps completed. See How We Rate for the full scoring methodology.
Fact-Checking Policy
Every quantitative claim — daily bonus amount, playthrough multiplier, minimum redemption, payout speed — must be sourced to the operator's official documentation (terms of service, help center, or in-product disclosure) before publication.
Primary sources we use
- Operator Terms of Service and Sweepstakes Rules
- In-product help centers and FAQ pages
- Direct operator responses to editorial inquiries
Secondary sources we cross-reference
- Player community reports (Reddit, Discord, Trustpilot)
- State gaming authority announcements where applicable
When primary and secondary sources conflict, we flag the discrepancy in the review body and present both figures until resolution. We do not publish a single figure as definitive when we have conflicting evidence.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on Beat the Spin are affiliate links. If you sign up for a sweepstakes casino account through one of our links, we may receive a commission from the operator. This commission is paid by the operator and does not come from you — there is no additional cost to signing up through our link.
What affiliate relationships do not affect: scores, rankings, or the content of reviews. A casino that does not have an affiliate relationship with us is eligible for the same top ranking as one that does. A casino with an affiliate deal that we find to have poor terms will receive a low score and we will say so plainly.
Pages containing affiliate links carry an inline disclosure near the top of the page. This is not buried in a footer or hidden from view.
Correction and Update Policy
We correct errors quickly and transparently. Our process:
- Minor factual error (wrong number, outdated figure): corrected within 48 hours of verification. The updated date on the review page is updated to reflect the change.
- Material error (incorrect conclusion, significant omission): corrected within 24 hours of verification, with a visible editor's note appended to the affected section explaining what changed and why.
- Disputed claim: if we cannot verify a correction within 48 hours, we flag the figure as "under review" in the content until the matter is resolved.
How to submit a correction
Email support@beatthespin.com with subject line "Editorial Correction". Include the URL of the affected page, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and any source you can point us to. We acknowledge every submission and respond within 5 business days.
Conflicts of Interest
Beat the Spin team members do not hold equity stakes in the sweepstakes casinos we review. Team members who have a pre-existing business or personal relationship with an operator recuse themselves from that operator's review and scoring process. Any such recusal is noted in the review.
AI Assistance Disclosure
We occasionally use AI writing tools to assist with drafting and editing. All content published under the Beat the Spin byline is reviewed, verified, and edited by a human team member before publication. AI output is never published without editorial oversight. Factual claims are always sourced independently of the AI draft.
Questions About This Policy
If you have questions about our editorial standards or want to understand how a specific rating was determined, email support@beatthespin.com with the subject line "Editorial Inquiry." We are happy to explain our process in detail.
